Getting Great Shoulder Cuts
Sometimes simple things can detract from an otherwise perfect project. If the shoulder cuts on a tennon aren't precise, there will be an unsightly gap where the joint meets.
If your miter gauge isn't adjusted to be perfectly square, the end cut on your wood isn't perfectly square, and the stop you use to gauge the length of your tennon isn't perfectly square, then your shoulder cuts won't come out even. Often these details are easily overlooked. Without the benefit of precise measurement, this task can be very frustrating.
